New Alan Wake website, trailer and screenshots!

Posted at 16:14 GMT by Chris :: Comments: 5
Big update for everyone today, Remedy have updated and released five brand new screenshots along with the new cinematic trailer! The new site is loading very slowly right now likely due to it being hammered with visitors. I've managed to get the new media uploaded here though, including mirrors of the trailers for your convenience too. Download links and screenshots are below, along with a YouTube embed (courtesy of of the new trailer. Enjoy!

Alan Wake new trailer sighting

Posted at 00:00 GMT by Chris :: Comments: 0 were lucky enough to see the Finnish pre-screening of Max Payne last week, with it they saw the new Alan Wake trailer which the rest of us are still waiting for. Kindly, they've given us some of their impressions of what they saw.

The one minute trailer shows Bright Falls as being way more detailed than when we first saw it in the preview videos and screenshots, and that it now looks more like a real town than a videogame level. YouGamers also listed the following points:

  • Film grain effects
  • Bloom effects
  • Realistic fog
  • Best flashlight effect I've ever seen
  • Some character bits, including what I assume was Alan's wife
  • Ton of fast cuts between various action sequences
  • Rapid camera zooms through the hills and forests
  • ...and in the end, some shadowy figures with blunt weapons
  • "Alan. Wake up."

Thanks to Alan Wake Zone for the heads up on this story.

1UP interview: Alan Wake Comes Out of Hiding

Posted at 16:23 GMT by Chris :: Comments: 3
1UP managed to get themselves a nice little chat with Remedy recently, and have put up an interview (in English!) with Sam Lake. It talks about much the same things as Pelaaja's but also touches on the game's development.

The idea of Alan Wake being told in a television show/DVD box set way is brought up again, and how "the experience is divided into episodes with cliffhanger endings and there is a supporting cast of characters around Wake himself." This of course inherently brings with it the possibility of sequels, something we thought about a couple of years ago. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, we still have the first game to get our hands on.

After more than a year with no new media, a new screenshot of Alan Wake finally surfaced today. A screen capture from the upcoming trailer to be precise. It's in-game footage too, not a pre-render. Click the thumbnail below to see it full size.

Sam Lake interview online

Posted at 15:44 GMT by Chris :: Comments: 0
Pelaaja's interview with Lead Writer Sam Lake is now online and can be listened to on their site. It's all in Finnish, but luckily we now have a full English translation available, thanks to Alan Wake Forums user Jokke_r, which can be read here.

Quite a lot is discussed in the interview so if you speak Finnish then you're probably better off listening as it's a bit of a long read, but an interesting one.

New Alan Wake trailer on 15th October

Posted at 10:09 GMT by Chris :: Comments: 0
A report in Finnish video game magazine, Pelaaja, suggests that a new Alan Wake trailer will be shown on the 15th of October, coinciding with the launch of the Max Payne movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, released two days later on the 17th. The trailer will premiere in Finnish cinema, Finnkino.

It's currently unknown whether or not this is exclusive to the cinema or if it'll be available on the web too, perhaps after a short exclusivity period.
